Founded in 1903, Bussing is recognized as perhaps Germany's oldest lorry manufacturing company. In 1931, Bussing became Bussing-NAG after acquiring AEG's daughter company NAG, producing a variety of lorry-types with payloads from 1.5-11.5 tons. Of these many variants, the Bussing-NAG 500 saw production between 1939 and 1941. In 1939, the 500A went into development with all-wheel drive and was produced between 1940 and 1942. The classification as Bussing-NAG 500 S occurred in 1941. This version of the vehicle utilized a six-cylinder, 105 HP diesel engine and boasted a sizable payload capacity of around 4.75 tons. By the end of WWII, 15,000 type 500 A/S were produced.
